EMS
Frequently Asked Questions
Q.
What is an EMS Unit (Electrical Muscle Stimulator Unit) ?
A. A muscle stimulator (EMS) is an electronic device
used to stimulate muscles.
Q.
How does a muscle stimulator work?
A. The muscle stimulator (EMS) works by sending electronic
stimulation to the muscle; thus allowing the muscle to contract
hundreds of times per minute. This contracting of the muscles
increases blood flow to the muscles which benefits tired aching
muscles; and expedites the healing. The muscle stimulation
can assist in re-educating and rebuilding injured muscles
when you are unable to physically exercise.
Q. Will the
EMS unit hurt me?
A. No, you control the intensity of the EMS unit. If at first
the contraction is uncomfortable, YOU can decrease the intensity.
Always read owners guide or consult a physician prior to use.
Q. Can
I place both electrodes over various muscle groups at once?
A. Yes, the EMS unit has two single outlet leads and four
electrode pads to stimulate more than one muscle at a time.
Q. Is
it best to place the two electrodes of a signal outlet lead
on the same side of the body?
A. Yes, it is important that you focus the single outlet lead
on the same muscle.
Q. If
I am Pregnant, can I use the EMS unit?
A. No, we DO NOT recommend using the EMS unit while pregnant.
Q. I
have a metal plate in my arm. Can I use the EMS unit over
the muscle, which is over the metal plate?
A. No, we recommend that you DO NOT use the EMS unit over
any part of your body that has metal.
Q. Does
EMS help my minor arthritis?
A. Yes, EMS units have shown to help with simple arthritic
stiffness.
Q. Can
I use my EMS unit when I am driving my car?
A. NO, DO NOT use EMS while driving an auto, or while operating
power equipment or machinery.
Q. I
or someone I know has a pacemaker. Can we use the EMS unit?
A. NO, patients with cardiac pacemakers, or patients known
to have myocardial diseases or arrhythmia or cardiac patients
in general, should not use EMS units.
